Terms of Service

1. The service

Finance Fable is a personal and household finance workspace. We help you connect accounts (via Plaid), review transactions, budgets, cash flow, goals, insights, and related views. We are not a bank, broker-dealer, investment adviser, tax preparer, CPA firm, or fiduciary. Nothing in the product is personalized legal, tax, or investment advice. Decisions you make with your money remain yours.

2. Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract.
• Provide accurate registration details. You are responsible for credentials, MFA devices, and activity under your account.
• One natural person per login. Do not share passwords. Household sharing uses the in-product invite flow, not shared credentials.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts for abuse, fraud risk, chargebacks, or Terms violations.

3. Membership and billing

• Web plans are billed in advance through Stripe Checkout (card). Current list prices are shown on the site and at Checkout (for example monthly and annual membership). Promotional discounts or coupons may apply when we offer them.
• The iPhone app is licensed under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement.
• iPhone subscriptions are purchased through Apple using the price and billing period displayed in the app. Apple charges your Apple account and manages renewal and refund requests for those purchases. Manage or cancel an Apple subscription in the app under Membership or in your Apple subscription settings. Deleting your Finance Fable account does not cancel your Apple subscription.
• Where required, Stripe Tax may add sales tax to the amount due based on your billing address and our tax registrations. The total shown at Checkout before you pay is the amount you authorize.
• Web subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in Billing / the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period unless we state otherwise.
• Failed renewals, unpaid invoices, refunds, or payment disputes may pause access. We may cancel a subscription at period end after a full refund or lost dispute.
• Fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law or where we choose to issue a goodwill refund. Contact support@financefable.com for billing questions.
• Prices and plans may change prospectively. Material changes will be reflected in Checkout / portal before your next charge when practical.

4. Bank linking (Plaid) and data accuracy

• Linking is optional and uses Plaid. Your relationship with your financial institution and with Plaid is separate from Finance Fable.
• Balances, transactions, and categorizations can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. Always confirm with your bank statements before acting.
• You authorize us to retrieve and refresh linked data as needed to operate the product, subject to our Privacy Policy and Plaid's terms.
• You may disconnect institutions in the product. Deleting your Finance Fable account removes our stored copies subject to legal retention needs.

5. Households

Household features let invited members share selected financial views under roles you assign. You are responsible for who you invite and what they can see. Do not invite anyone you do not trust with that access.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Break the law or use the service for fraud, money laundering, or scams.
• Probe, scrape, overload, or reverse engineer the service except as allowed by law.
• Bypass authentication, rate limits, billing, or access controls.
• Upload malware or content you do not have rights to use.
• Misrepresent identity or affiliation.

7. Intellectual property

Finance Fable, including software, branding, and documentation, is owned by us or our licensors. You get a limited, revocable license to use the service for your personal or household finance tracking while your account is in good standing. You retain rights to the financial data you provide; you grant us a license to process it to run the service.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that linked bank data is complete or current.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100). Some places do not allow certain limits; those limits apply only to the extent allowed.

10. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the service, your household invites, or your violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

11. Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account in Settings (subject to password confirmation and our deletion flow). We may suspend or end access for Terms violations, legal risk, nonpayment, or product wind-down. Provisions that should survive (including IP, disclaimers, limits, and indemnity) survive termination.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. The Effective date above will change when we do. Continued use after posting means you accept the updated Terms. If a change is material and adverse, we will try to provide reasonable notice (for example email or in-product).

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your home jurisdiction apply. Courts in Ohio may hear disputes, subject to those protections.
